Become Employment Ready

Extra Help

Meadowmark enjoys a working relationship with many social service agencies.  Call us to see if we can connect you to one or another program which will help you with not only your job training needs but your transportation, child care, day to day expenses, legal issues, and job placement as well.

The Right Program

Most students are referred to our program through various agencies.  Give us a call and we will discuss your situation and see which agency suits you best.  There are agencies that specialize in helping workers who have been laid off; individuals who have disabilities; those who have not worked outside the home for a long time; those who have low income; those who have legal or background issues; and many other employment related challenges.  Employment is an important part of any solution to these difficult situations. We have been working in partnership with these programs for over twenty years and can make you aware of the best program to suit your needs.

The Extra Mile

Go The Extra Mile - Meadowmark is More Than Just Training

More Than Just Training

You're Not Alone!

When you sign up for our program you will be with others who are in a situation similar to your own.  We share our resources and support each other through the difficult times.  Each day you will find that your abilities will get better.  You will understand how to do things with software that give you encouragement to seek better paying jobs that you were hesitant to apply for in the past.  As other students succeed they celebrate their good fortune with the class and come back to encourage those still in training to keep at it until they reach their employment goals as well.

Other Benefits

Money for transportation, help with legal problems, childcare, and financial advice are all issues, which a person who is training for employment must face while in training.  At Meadowmark we realize that a student cannot concentrate on the work of learning while personal and family problems remain unresolved.  Sometimes a simple part time job after class can provide a solution – we can help with that.  Other times extra help is required which interferes with the normal classroom schedule.  In those cases we will adjust your schedule to help you with whatever present circumstances block you from getting your life back in order.

In our Information Center you will find general information about our school as well as some the many benefits of becoming a Meadowmark graduate.  Please see our Contact Us page for information on contacting our school regarding enrollment or answers for any questions you may still have.

Learn to Produce & Manage Information

Meadowmark is different from school such as Cuyahoga Community College and Cleveland State.  The average age of our student is between 35 and forty years old.  Our program is 400 hours long.  That only takes between 12 and sixteen weeks and is often accomplished while working part time.

People come to Meadowmark because they need to improve their employment opportunities as quickly as possible.  Over the past twenty years graduates have found better employment by enrolling in our 400-hour teacher-led training program.  We get right down to the business of teaching you what you need to know to manage all of the basic requirements of the office environment.

At the end of the program you will have earned a certificate in the use of the Microsoft Office® programs of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.  These programs act like the four legs of a table upon which all business activities are carried out.  Text, graphics, spreadsheets, and databases drive the information process in our work world today.  If you can use these programs to their full advantage you will be able to out-produce other job candidates and command the kind of salary that is given to productive workers.

None of us know from where our best work opportunity may appear.  Our course of study is general enough and adaptable enough to give you the competitive edge you need to qualify as the most attractive candidate for a wide variety of job offerings.  Our training also provides you with the foundation you need from which to build additional skills in specialized areas of interest and opportunity as well.

Typing Prerequisite

You should be able to type about 20 words a minute before taking these classes.  We can work with if you are a slow typist, but you will be required to put extra time into typing practice since it is essential that you can type comfortably in an office environment.  We practice typing every day for about an hour.  In this way our graduates can type 40 words per minute upon graduation and many students learn to type much faster.  Being a fast typist is a powerful incentive for an employer to hire you because a fast typist is more productive than those who struggle with the keyboard.

Do I Need a High School Diploma or GED?

There are many office jobs that only require that you know your software and can type 40 words per minute.  For these reason you do not need a high school diploma or GED to enter our program.  You are, however, strongly encouraged to have one since your rate of pay may be seriously diminished without one.  Many students pursue their GED in the evening after their computer software studies.

Where Are You Located?

We are located at the corner of 18th and Superior in Downtown Cleveland.  This is on Superior right across the street from the Cosgrove Center and the Welfare Building.  We are in the main floor of the Thomas J Unik Building in suite #152.  Before you come down for the first time be sure to call us first at (216) 210-4429 so that we can direct you to the proper entrance and where to park.  The 326 bus stops right at the corner of 18th and Superior and runs quite often.
